The cold and rainy weather is an essential requirement for comforting and hearty meals, without, however, causing a stomachache afterwards. The recipe is incredibly easy and sure to please all lovers of codfish. It is excellent for dinners for friends or family reunions on the weekends, because it does not require great preparation time and the result is always very nice and well appreciated.
Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/2 rye bread ["broa" is typically portuguese]
- 2 large onions
- cloves of garlic
- chili
- extra virgin olive oil
- 700g desalted cod
- turnip greens
Once washed and cut, lightly sauté the greens in a frying pan with olive oil and chopped garlic cloves. Reserve. Bake the codfish in boiling water and reserve. Cut the onions into rings and chop the garlic into small pieces and sprinkle with salt and chilli and sprinkle all with the olive oil. Bake until golden. Shred very well the codfish once it has cooled to remove all the spines and place it over half the onion.Place the other half of the onion above. Blend the rye bread in a blender and put a layer on top of the codfish with the onions. Place the turnip greens on top. The last layer is again of crushed rye bread. Sprinkle generously with olive oil and bring to preheated oven at 180º until golden.

A única vez que comi bacalhau com broa, estava mal feito, sem temperos, sem sabor. DEixou-me uma aversão ao prato tão grande que nunca mais o provei... mas qualquer dia faço-o eu, a ver no que dá!!
