June Beauty Buys

Summer is all about skin protection and bright, vibrant happy colours. Here are my choices for the past month. I hope you'll enjoy it!

1. This super affordable lipstick by Catrice, Matt About Pink 250, has a shade that can look anything from bright coral pink  to an orangy red, depending on the light and your own lip colour, but it has a bit of a tendency to emphasize dryness, so it's important to have your lips properly hydrated firstly [ it just glides on smoothly and doesn't leave little parts of product everywhere, though]. It's a keeper for sure.

2. This is by far the prettiest mani/ pedi peach colour I've found for summer.Almost like a light coral though not chalky or pastel-ish, which I love. The texture is thick and creamy which I love for opaque color. I did 3 coats because this one was streaky at first but built up and evened out fairly easily. It's a perfect summer shade for those hot summer days that are still ahead for us!

3. Shiseido's Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF30 is a thin, runny base with excellent medium to full coverage that protects skin against the UV rays causing photo aging with an excellent UVA/UVB protection effect. It's somewhere between matte and dewy which provides for a feresh look I simple adore. It's very lightweight and sinks right into my skin upon application without feeling heavy. I really enjoy wearing this foundation for this very reason. The SPF in it is an added bonus -  an excellent option for outdoor wear when you're active because it stays in place and is water-resistant.

Caramelized Lemon Cake

I've always enjoyed a good lemon cake and this is one of my favorites. This delicious cake, which is  both beautiful and flavoured, wonderfully quick and easy,  is sure to jazz up a summer party with a refreshing tang and zingy scent.  It is deliciously lemony and moist and definitely a cake I will make again.

  • zest of 2 lemons
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 40ml liquid butter
  • 250gr sugar
  • 350g self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
 Caramelized Oranges:

  • 250gr light brown sugar
  • 2 sliced lemons

Separate the yolks from the whites and whisk the egg whites. Reserve the whisked egg whites. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar, the liquid butter and the zest of the lemon.
Afterwards add the juice of the orange and whisk again. Add the flour and whisk, then adding the whisked egg whites. Pour it into a mold buttered and sprinkled with flour and take it to the pre heated oven at 180º for about 35-40 minutes. Place the light brown sugar in a frying pan to heat along with a cup of ornage juice. Add the sliced lemons and let them boil, stirring ocasionally with a wooden spoon until they caramelize.

Find Of The Month - Décor

I don’t consider a house is a home if it’s not filled with books, but that's just the opinion of a person with a "bit of a book problem"! Almost every book in my shelves have been read [I'm talking about over 600] but the appeal of a bookshelf isn't totally completed without a few décor key elements, so that functionality and style can go together hand in hand. That's why I  definitely incorporate artwork into my shelf scheme. This woman's bust from ZARA HOME is my latest purchase that helps me keep my bookcases stylished, eye-catching with a simple but chic look.

Find Of The Month - Fashion

I'd been hunting down this guy for months and it's finally mine! As soon as ZARA put it online it almost immediately oversold and I couldn't find it at any store nearby. Designed with a reversible two-in-one silhouette, in olive green and black, this bomber jacket instantaneously became the wardrobe staple I'll be wearing to death  these summer nights and even in the beginning of Fall. Because there’s really only a single thing better than one bomber, and that’s two!
