Carrot-Orange Flavour, Dark Chocolate Accent

Most of the times the sweet treats that involve little effort are the ones that cause a bigger impact. Most of the times, even when we don´t have a lot of ingredients in the kitchen cabinets or in the fridge [just one packet of sour cream - that had to do!] we can [roughly] manage with a good presentation by adding feminine, vibrant and colourful decorative elements that will amke the treat pop at our eyes.  Most of the times friends will truly welcome your dedication to them when you invite them over for a chat, a cup of hot tea and a piece of home baked  cake, on no special occasion just for the pleasure of having them around. And most of the times four carrots, a cup of sweet-sour citric juice of fresh oranges and an accent of dark chocolate are just enough to make my day!

Ingredients:
  • 2 tea cups flour
  • 2 tea cups sugar
  • 4 medium carrots
  • 1 soup spoon yeast
  • 4 eggs room temperature
  • 1/2 tea cup sunflower oil
  • 1 cup of freshly squeezed oranges
  • red and yellow food colouring to make peach tone
Pre-heat the oven 190ºC/ 4 gas

In a bowl mix the flour and the yeast. Beat up the eggs [the whites must be beaten apart], the sugar, the sunflower oil and the orange juice for about 3 minutes with the mixer and pour over the flour with the yeast. Blend well and add the previouly boiled and mashed carrots.Blend the egg whites in the dough with a spatula. Use the  mixer again for about 5 minutes. Put the dough in a cake mould lightly greased with butter. Put it in the oven for about 35 minutes.

Filling:
  • 4 soup spoons of sugar
  • a bit of butter
  • a bit of milk
  • dark chocolate
  • 1 soup spoon of cinammon
Cover:
  • Italian Meringe - former recipe on the blog
  • jelly beans

Ingredientes:
  • 2 chávena de farinha
  • 2 chávenas de açúcar
  • 4 cenouras
  • 1 colher de sopa de fermento
  • 4  ovos temperatura ambiente
  • 1/2 chávena de óleo de girassol
  • 1 chávena de laranjas acabadas de espremer
  • corante alimentar vermelho e amarelo para fazer o tom pêssego
  • Pré-aquecer o forno 190ºC/ 4 gás

Numa taça misturar a farinha e o fermento.

Recheio:
  • 4 colheres de sopa de açúcar
  • um pouco de manteiga
  • um pouco de leite
  • chocolate preto
  • 1 colher se sopa de canela
Cobertura:
  • Merengue Italiano - receita previamente no blog
  • gomas
