Homemade Fig Jam

The figs were still in season when I made this scrumptious jam and these were the last batch from our the fig tree. There is no better way to preserve seasonal fruits and their goodness in the form of preserves, jams and marmalades. I also love the process of canning jam in cute jars and labelling them with a rustic vibe and specially when I am preparing them for becoming nice 'Xmas gifts. This won't be the case though, because it will hardly manage to survive till then considering that there's only one jar left by now. It actually doesn't just look great, it tastes divinely as well and if you have any doubt about that give it a try this upcoming weekend and you'll see if this fresh fig jam won't be one of the most delicious things you've tasted lately.

 Ingredients:
  • 1 kg of figs
  • 750g Sugar
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 300 ml water
  • 8 nuts

In a saucepan, bring to the boil the sugar, water, lemon juice, then add the cinnamon. Stir and bring to a boil. Remove the hard part of the figs and cut them into slices. Add about 2 fig slices at a time to the sauce and stir, not allowing the syrup to stop boiling. Lower the heat and simmer for 1 hour. After 1 hour, turn off the heat and let cool. After it has cooled completely, store in airtight jars and add 3/2 of shelled nuts inside each bottle. Then just serve!

Ingredientes:
  • 1kg de figos
  • 750g de açúcar
  • sumo de 1 limão
  • 1 colher de café de canela
  • 300 ml de água
  • 8 nozes

Beijinhos
