This week was a true hustle, but always a very plesant one. I attended some cultural events [I went to a theme party, to an educational theatre play, to the cinema to watch "Melancholia", from Lars from Triers - one of my fetish directors], the construction works of my new home have finally restarted [I can´t hardly wait to see it finished!], I went to Zara Home to sneak peek the new collection and have been  obsessing about some items that have enchanted me, I rearranged my kitchen's cupboard grocery to have everything more at hand for my cooking experiments [I promise to improve the presentation of my cookings] and I am in a dilemma in what concerns the color to paint the house on the outside! Uuuufffffff!!! Truly, after all this hustle and bustle, I'm in the mood for...

Esta semana foi um verdadeiro corropio, mas sempre muito agradável. Assisti a alguns eventos culturais [fui a uma festa temática, assisti a uma peça de teatro pedagógica, fui ao cinema ver "Melancholia" do Lars von Triers - um dos meus realizadores fétiche], recomeçaram as obras de construção da minha casa [mal posso esperar para a ver pronta!], fui à Zara Home espreitar a nova coleção  e andei o resto da semana a obcecar com algumas peças que me encantaram, organizei a mercearia do armário para ter tudo mais disponível para as minhas experiências culinárias [prometo que vou começar a caprichar na apresentação!]e estou um dilema para escolher a cor exterior da casa!Uuufffaaa!!!Sinceramente, depois desta lufa-lufa, apetece-me...

Lemony Flavour - Madeleines and Muffins

I recently decided to bake these two delicacies for a Sunday afternoon snack for two different but at the same time inseparable reasons - because I love the acidulous flavour of fresh lemons [I have lemon trees scaterred around my parents' yard], but also because my mother and my niece [both called Madeleine]were ill, with a terrible flew - and I also love them dearly. They were easy to make and easier to eat! Therefore I invite you to prepare a pot full of steamy tea - this freezing weather demands it - while you prepare this super easy and really fast recipe, who knows, to pamper your beloved ones!

Lemon Madeleines and Lemon Muffins with Bitter Chocolate

 Ingredients:

4 eggs - room temperature
120gr sugar
a pinch of salt
180 gr flour [sifted with the yeast]
1 teaspoon of yeast
100gr melted butter - room temperature
3 teaspoons of lemon zest
1 black chocolate: Lindt [fleur de Sel] e chocolate sprinkles

Pre-heat the oven 190ºC/gas 5

Preparation: 
 

If you use silicone baking moulds just smear it with a bit of butter. 

In a bowl put the eggs, the sugar and the salt and use the mixer to blend them (5m tops]. Slowly add the flour sifted with the yeast to the egg mix. Use the mixer to blend all. Add lemon zest to the butter. Stir with a spoon, to mix up well everything. Mix just until the dough is homogenous.

 
Put the dough of the madeleines and of the muffins [the same dough] in the baking moulds, bearing in mind not to fill them to top. Put in the pre-heated oven until it's cooked - test it with toothpick to confirm it's baked. Take it out and unmold. I melted a chunk of chocolate directly in the microwaves and dipped the muffin there!!!

Recentemente decidi fazer estes dois petiscos para um lanche de domingo à tarde, por dois motivos diferentes, mas absolutamente indissociáveis - pelo fato de adorar o sabor ácido do limão (os meus pais têm limoeiros espalhados pelo quintal] e pelo fato da minha mãe e sobrinha [ambas chamadas Madalena] estarem doentes com gripe - e eu também as adoro. Foram fáceis de fazer e de comer então nem se fala! Por isso convido-vos a preparar um bule cheio de chá quentinho - este tempo gelado também não pede outra coisa - enquanto fazem esta receita super fácil e rápida, quiçá para mimarem também alguém que vos é querido!

 Madalenas de Limão e Muffins de limão com chocolate preto

 Ingredientes:

4 ovos grande à temperatura ambiente
120gr de açúcar
1 pitada de sal
180 gr de farinha [peneirada com o fermento]
1 colher de chá de fermento
100gr de manteiga derretida, fria, à temperatura ambiente
3 colheres de (chá) de raspa de limão
1 chocolate Lindt [fleur de Sel] e chocolate granulado

Pré-aquece o forno a 190ºC/gás 5

Preparação:
 Se usares formas de silicone pincela com um pouco de manteiga (derretida não precisa de farinha).

Numa taça bate com a batedeira, os ovos com o açúcar e o sal, durante (+/-) 5 minutos. Junta aos poucos a farinha peneirada com o fermento e adiciona à mistura dos ovos. Bate até ficar tudo misturado. Adiciona a raspa de limão à manteiga. Mexe com uma colher de pau, para envolver a manteiga na massa. Misturas apenas até a massa ficar homogénea.

Coloca a massa das madalenas e dos muffins nas formas, tendo o cuidado de não encheres totalmente até cima.  Leva ao forno pré-quente até estar cozido - usa um palito para confirmar.
Retira do forno deixa arrefecer - desenforma. Eu derreti diretamente um pedaço de chocolate no microondas e mergulhei lá os muffins!!!

In terms of make up trends the smokey eye is a classic  and, because of that, every season, there is always a certain tendency to come back to it - even if though we glance at what is traditional with a new perspective! Thus, many make up artists are  adopting  the technique of the smokey eye in the backstage of many international fashion shows extending it to a less usual  palette of colors in this domain, replacing the black color for chestnut tones, purple, green and aubergin for the upcoming season; others stay true to the traditional smoked black shade  [of which I am an unconditional fan!].What we have to keep in what concerns  this type of make is the obligatoriness of the unconditionally abusive use of eye mascara, layer on layer, without mercy! Another demand to achieve the perfect look is to keep eyebrows immaculately trimmed, to bet in sobriety and  in the aesthetic of simplicity - the skin is worked, the shade base is beige, the cheeks are lightly stressed and the lips are nude. What we have to keep in what concers  this type of make is the obligatoriness of the unconditionally abusive use of eye mascara, layer on layer, without mercy! Em termos de looks de maquilhagem o olho esfumado é um clássico e, talvez por isso, haja sempre tendência para voltar a ele - ainda que através de lançarmos um novo olhar sobre o que é tradicional! Assim, muitos maquilhadores estão a adotar a técnica do esfumado no backstage dos desfiles internacionais estendendo-a a uma palette de cores menos usual neste domínio, substituindo o preto por tons de castanho, verde roxo e beringela para a estação que se avizinha; outros mantêm-se fiéis à sombra preta esfumada tradicional [da qual sou fã incondicional]. O que há reter neste tipo de make é a obrigatoriedade do uso incondicionalmente abusivo da máscara de pestanas [vulgo rímel, mas já não se usa dizer assim],camada sobre camada, sem dó! Outra demanda para deixar o olhar perfeito é manter as sobrancelhas imaculadamente arranjadas, apostar na sobriedade e no minimalismo - a pele é trabalhada, a sombra base é bege, as maçãs do rosto são levemente marcadas e a boca é nude.Isto resulta numa fórmula de sucesso que se traduz numa imagem de mulher elegante, segura, bem sucedida, misteriosa, atual - sinónimo de modernidade. Esta make [que de forma exagerada pode tornar o look pesado/ carregado]ganhou a dimensão do chique, da imponência, do sensual e da sofisticação e tem a vantagem de poder ser feita em casa, sem grande técnica. Exige uma atitude de aprendizagem intensa, mas pode concomitantemente ser prática, divertida e , sobretudo, económica!Afinal, estamos em crise!

Is This Desire? - Home Office Design [part 1]

I've never been a very organized person; as a matter of fact I am a true paradox, for I am one of those persons who feels quite at ease within cahotic organization. Nevertheless, as I grew older [and actually as clutter was gradually enlarging!] and the affairs multiplied at an alarming range I began to feels the compressing need of pulling myself together in terms of order. It was then that I realized that in order to organize the exterior I had to start by doing it internally by clarifying my priorities, setting goals and defining the way I wanted my belongings and my lifestyle arranged. I understood and internalized that organization doesn't just mean tidiness. It has to be cohesive, aesthetically appeallative and functional, relaxed and inspiring; it has to be a reflection of our personality and temperament. I will start to do all that in my office, one of my favourite places around the house, where I spend most of my time [that has to be useful]and therefore I'm in the hunt for inspiration in spaces absolutely magnificent, that exhale beautiness, creativity and exude mental well-being!

Nunca fui uma pessoa muito organizada;aliás, sou um verdadeiro paradoxo, pois sou daquelas pessoas que se orientam dentro de um caos organizado. No entanto, à medida que o tempo foi passando [e a tralha aumentando!] e os afazeres se foram multiplicando, sentia cada vez mais a necessidade premente de me organizar. Foi,então, nessa altura que constatei que de forma a organizar o exterior, tinha de começar primeiro por fazer isso interiormente ao clarificar as minhas prioridades, estabelecer metas e definir como queria dispor os meus pertences e o meu estilo de vida. Entendi e interiorizei que a organização não passa só pela limpeza. Ela tem que ser harmoniosa,esteticamente apelativa, tem de transmitir descontração, tem de refletir a personalidade e a maneira de ser de cada um. Vou começar pelo escritório, um dos meus locais de eleição da casa, onde passo mais tempo [que tem de se revelar profícuo] e, por isso, vou inspirar-me em espaços verdadeiramente maravilhosos, que exalam beleza e criatividade e que transpiram bem-estar mental!

Neon Signs

The vibrant and loud colours of the crazy 80's promise to return next season, but now in a low profile version. For those who are willing to experiment on the neon trend with discreetion it's possible to mix it with more neutral or inconspicuous colors,thus, making the look more sober. By wearing it only in details ou in accessories, the intention is to spice up the classical look a bit, conferring it a more fashionista look, without, however, dramatizing as was done three decades ago [really?!! that long already?!!!]Also in interior design we can risk neon colors because they confer a sassy look and they grant a house an unbelievable singularity/ originality. For those who are more daring, they can show audacity by wearing make up neon trends, but bear in mind that it must be done only in small amounts and strategically [never eyes, mouth, nails at the same time!] - unless they make part of the Cirque du Soleil!Therefore, dare putting on some lime green, some acid yellow, some fluor pink... but only in small neon signs!

As cores vibrantes e chamativas dos loucos anos 80 prometem regressar na próxima estação, mas, agora, numa versão mais inconspícua. Para quem quer usar a tendência de cores néon com parcimónia é possível mesclá-las com cores mais neutras ou apagadas, tornando ,assim, o look mais sóbrio. Ao colocá-las apenas em pequenos apontamentos ou detalhes, a intenção é apimentar um pouco mais os look mais clássico, dando-lhe um toque mais fashionista, sem contudo cair no exagero de há três décadas atrás (really?!! Há tanto tempo?!!!!).  Também na decoração de interiores se pode arriscar os tons néon porque dão um toque atrevido e um cunho de singularidade/ originalidade incrível. Para as mais irreverentes, há que ousar também na maquilhagem, mas só em pequenas doses e de forma estratégica [nunca olhos, boca e mãos em simultâneo!] -  a não ser que pertençam ao Cirque du Soleil!Assim, atreve-te num verde lima, num amarelo ácido, num rosa flúor... mas apenas em pequenos sinais néon!

E porque nem só de pão vive o homem [neste caso, nem de doces a mulher], também gosto de preparar outros petiscos mais salgados e mais nutritivos, como é o caso deste lombo de porco assado no forno com batatinhas. Acompanha muito bem um Falgaroso 2009 do Soutelo do Douro - cor rubi, intenso e brilhante; um frutado intenso e jovem com notas de baunilhas e amadeirado. 

Ingredientes:

• 01 lombo de porco com aproximadamente dois quilos ou mais. 
• 1kg batatas médias 
• Sal a gosto 
• 03 dentes de alho e 2 folhas de louro
• 5 malaguetas pequenas (eu adoro picante!)
• azeite e 2 pacotes de manteiga Mimosa com alho
• 150 ml de vinho branco e 150 ml de água

Pré-aqueçam o forno a 180ºC /gás 4

Num tabuleiro de forno coloquem o lombo já devidamente fatiado. Descasquem  os alhos e juntem as folhas de louro  partidas . Temperem  a carne com sal e pimenta, juntem azeite, água e vinho branco e deixem  repousar alguns minutos. 

Eu  gosto de dar uma fervura às batatas por levarem mais tempo a assar.Como  vai a assar simultaneamente com a carne ,com a fervura estão assadas ao  mesmo tempo. Esta parte é opcional!Coloquem um tacho ao lume com água e sal e  deixem ferver uns sete minutos. Escorram muito bem a água das batatas e  coloquem no tabuleiro onde já está a carne pronta para ir ao forno, reguem com azeite e coloquem pedacinhos de manteiga MIMOSA com alho por cima - dois pacotinhos. Levem ao forno a assar ao mesmo tempo da carne. Bon apétit!!!

Nos meus tempos de adolescência, o batom foi o primeiro produto de maquilhagem pelo qual me apaixonei. Aquele que na Grécia do século II era legalmente proibido ser usado pelas mulheres antes do casamento, caminhou com a ascensão feminina e ganhou espaço, junto à mulher. É muito mais do que um simples produto de beleza: é uma espécie de torre de menagem [confere poder e segurança], é um aliado  [eleva a autoestima feminina], é uma arma [tem a forma de uma bala e todas as mulheres se sentem mais sedutoras quando o aplicam], é emblemático [reforça e priviligia a personalidade de cada mulher], é um rito de passagem [está presente nas fases de transição de menina para mulher], é atrevido [mexe com a imaginação masculina], é democrático [fica bem em todos os tipos de pele e formato de lábios] e, para, mim, tem sido o meu fiel companheiro. Ainda bem que a próxima estação promete usar e abusar dos batons - e quanto mais coloridos melhor! Já escolheste o teu?

In my teenage years, lipstick became my first beloved make up product. That which was legally forbidden to women before marriage in ancient Greece has walked along with feminine ascension, making room close to women. It's much more than just a beauty item: it's a kind of dojon [it confers power and self assurance] it's an ally [it elevates feminine self esteem], it's a weapon [it's bullet shape and makes women feel more seductive when putting/ having it on, it's emblematic [it reinforces and privileges/ enhances each woman's personality, it's a rite of passage [it´s there when a girl blossoms into a woman], it's sassy [it troubles masculine imagination], it's democratic [it suits all skin colors and all lips sahpes] and, to me, it's my faithful partner! Coffee Table Books

 'Coffee-table book'  is one of those albums, usually big and heavy [not to mention usually expensive]whose aim is to be observed, rather than read.In fact, it normally has little text, abounding in photographs or illustrations. The quality of the bookbinding and of the images is usually high, in terms of copy - it's beautiful, appealing, almost ecletic. Its themes can be widely varied - fashion, art, gardening, flowers, collections, antiques... It's called 'Coffee-table book' because it's usually displayed on those tables, in the living room, meaning to entertain, incite or facilitate conversation with guests. It's beautiful, a true work of art. I am a great enthusiastic for books and I have reading habits [I believe that only the liaison of both thees factors make us readers for life. Although it is informative to those who appreciate the set of themes it includes, this kind of book aims at a more superficial kind of reading [not necessarily bad - it saves lots of time!, but it also comprehends the concept that an image is worth a thousand words!

 'Coffee-table book' é um daqueles álbuns, geralmente grandes e  pesados (e também habitualmente caros) destinados mais a serem vistos do  que lidos. Costumam, aliás, ter pouco texto, predominando as fotografias  ou as gravuras. A qualidade da encadernação e das imagens costuma ser  alta em termos de reprodução, bela, apelativa, quase eclética. A temática pode ser  muito variada - moda, arte, jardinagem, flores, coleccionismo, antiguidades... Chamam-se 'coffee-table books' porque é nessas  mesinhas que habitualmente são colocados, na sala de estar, no intuito  de entreter ou provocar ou facilitar a conversa com as visitas. São lindos, são verdadeiras obras de arte. Eu sou uma grande apreciadora de livros, gosto de ler e tenho hábitos de leitura [penso que só a conjugação destes dois fatores faz de nós leitores para toda a vida]. Embora sejam informativos, para os apreciadores das temáticas que contemplam, este tipo de livros acabam por se destinar a uma espécie de leitura mais superficial,[o que não é necessariamente mau, pois poupa-nos imenso tempo!] mas também encerram em si o conceito de que uma imagem vale mais que mil palavras!

Ombré Hair

Ombré is a word of French origins which means shading. The Ombré Hair technique is therefore, to make a shading, using our natural hair color basis, by applying a kind of degradé in several tones [up to 4 mixing tones can be used, starting in the length of the hair and going till the hairend. This technique is different from all the others hairstyles have adopted so far, bacuse the roots are kept undyed and only some hair chunks are enlightened to give that charming effect - a natural one, as if the hair had been sunkissed!

I'm obsessing a bit about this and while I am  fearful about extreme hairdos, I'm at the same time well capable of daring this ultra sexy look of the Californian surfer girls!Swell!

This week went by distressingly quickly!I'm glad that after a week of having caught a terrible cold, of a freezing weather from morning to evening, of having to catch up on lots of household chores, of having to run pending errands and of having to solve some minor bores, tonight I'm finally going to be able to relax in a fun Body Jam class at the gym [Phive]and get ready to appreciate the so longed weekend. Have fun! I mean to! 

  Esta semana passou num ápice! Ainda bem, que depois de uma semana sempre engripada, de um frio de rachar de manhã à noite, de muitas tarefas domésticas para pôr em dia, assuntos pendentes para   tratar com urgência e algumas chatices de menor importância para   resolver, hoje à noite vou poder finalmente descontrair numa aula divertida de   Body Jam no ginásio [Phive]e preparar-me para saborear o tão cada vez mais almejado fim de   semana. Collier de Chien is one of the countless items that I wouldn´t minf having in my collector's pile - one of each for the lady over here, please! I'll bark if needed - woof, woof!

Esta galette sobremesa foi confecionada com as sobras da massa da minha tarte de ameixa e caiu que nem ginjas! Foi só adicionar umas quantas nozes [era o que havia, mas depois já a fiz de novo com frutos silvestres e pinhões e fica divinal!], polvilhar uma pitada de canela, embrulhar em papel de alumínio e deixar crestar um bocadinho, para ficar meio estaladiça. Acompanha muito bem com chá/ meia de leite [no caso de lanche] ou, neste caso, para sobremesa, com gelado {aqui - Chocolate Chip e Cinnamon Dulche de Leite - Häagen-Dazs, naturalmente!} .

Coco Chanel used to say that "fashion fades, only style is eternal". i can't remember of anything more determining of a person's style than accessories, even more than clothes themselves. Since I was very young I've felt an uncontrollable fascination in what conerns accessories, Often, if I hado to choose between buying a new clothing item or a new accessory instead, seldom did I choose the first one in detriment of the second. I've always considered that these peculiar items were the greatest indicators of ones personal style, multipliers of our closets, they have the ability of reinventing the same outfits countless times, making them seem different each time, cementing, distinguishing and enhancing the personality of those who wear them. Accessories are always a safe investment and a profitable one as well, considering we can always wear tehm no matter we are fatter, thinner, older or even pregnant! They are our presentation letter to the world, they inpose our personality and they have the ability of turning us into true fashion icons, granting us a personal and intransmissible mark. They grant us uniqueness and unmistakability. To me, these detals are the ones that make all the difference in a look. What about you? Don't you think that the accessry is also essential?

If I had to define myself, I would risk saying that I'm an extemporaneous person!I was born before my due time, I wake up minutes abefore the alarm clock rings, I get up very early in the morning, my body speeds up fast or vey fast, I'm an expert in getting loads of things to do at the same time and, therefore I'm always going frantic, when the rainy winter hardly arrives, I soon begin longing for very hot days on the beach, when the irrespirable heat os summer arrives inviting our bodies to denude, I can hardly wait for the falling of the first rain drops that give wet soil an unmistakable scent and I fervently long for the palette warm tones of leaves tinted by fall.This means that I'm never satisfied in the season I'm currently at and that I cannot quiet down until I take a peek on what the new season promises to bring us.This means that now, in the very middle of winter, I think about anything else but flowery, sunny charm, floaty, colourful and poetically romantic springtime! Se eu tivesse que me definir, acho que arriscaria a dizer que sou uma pessoa temporã. Nasci antes do tempo previsto, acordo mesmo antes do despertador tocar, levanto-me cedíssimo, o meu corpo move-se a duas velocidades - rápido e rapidíssimo, sou perita em arranjar múltiplas coisas para fazer em simultâneo e,por esse motivo, ando sempre a mil à hora, mal chega o inverno chuvoso, começo logo a ansiar por dias abrasadores na praia, chega o calor irrespirável do verão que convida ao desnudar dos corpos, mal posso esperar pelo cair das primeiras gotas de chuva que dão à terra molhada um aroma inconfundível e desejo ardentemente a palete de cores quentes das folhas matizadas pelo outono. Quero com isto dizer que nunca estou satisfeita na estação que me encontro e que nunca sossego enquanto não vejo o que a estação seguinte nos prepara. Isto significa que agora, nos picos do inverno, eu já não penso em mais nada senão numa época primaveril florida, solarenga, leve, colorida e poeticamente romântica! Apetece-me...

Ever since I was a little girl I have felt a dizzy fatal attraction towards make up products. My first flesh and blood reference in terms of make up artistry was my twenty-years-older-than-me sister who always had her long oval shaped nails polished in hot red and her eyelids coloured in light blue or emerald green( 80's - does it ring a bell?) and who was to me the biggest beauty icon I had ever seen. After her, or maybe before, came along the sultry TV actresses with long, thick, black eyelashes, flawless skin, rosy cheeks, vibrant red lips and long shiny hair and who immidiately became my muses and my most desired wannabe. I recall that back then, I would spend hours imagining the total make over of some women that I saw looking blant on the streets if I had the chance to get my hands on those miraculous products that had the magical power of turning frogs into princesses. Thanks to that, better saying, because of that, I've ruined my finances more often than I should have, but it was all in the name of a greater deed.Now that I own a vast collection of beauty items I struggle constantly with clutter drawers, I get on the nerves whenever I want to find a spefic item and it's nowhere to be found, I really need to get my stash better treated and I'm desperately urging to organize my vanity.Therefore, I'm in the hunt for:

Desde pequenita sempre senti uma vertiginosa atração fatal em relação a produtos de maquilhagem. A minha primeira referência em carne e osso em termos da arte de bem maquilhar foi a minha irmã vinte anos mais velha do que eu que sempre usou as suas unhas ovaladas pintadas num vermelho vistoso e que usava as pálpebras tingidas de azul clarinho ou verde esmeralda (anos 80, diz-vos alguma coisa?)e que era para mim o maior icon de beleza alguma vez visto. Depois dela, ou talvez mesmo antes, vieram as dengosas atrizes de cinema com as suas pestanas pretas longas e grossas, pele imaculada, maçãs do rosto rosadas, lábios vermelhos vibrantes e cabelos longos brilhantes e que imediatamente se tornaram as minhas musas aspiracionais.Lembro-me que, então, eu passava horas a imaginar a transformação total de algumas mulheres desengraçadas que eu via nas ruas se eu tivesse hipótese de deitar as unhas naqueles produtos miraculosos que detinham o poder mágico de transformar rãs em princesas. Graças a isso, ou melhor dizendo, por causa disso vi muitas mais vezes as minhas finanças arruinadas do que aquelas que deveria, mas foi tudo em nome de feito maior. As some of you may know I'm in the process of finishing my house and starting decorating it. This has been a life-long project that has finally come to terms with its accomplishment. Throughout the past eleven years I've lived in two different houses and finally I'm about to move for the third and hopefully last time (at least for as long as I remember the troubles I have had in the process of building a house) to my new house, a house that finally I can call mine and that really feels like home, in a couple of months. The process has been long, difficult and nerve-wrecking but I hope that all the suffering was worthwhile once all is finished. I've been collecting photos of home décor throughout these years of waiting that were like reference points to me of what I intend my house to become, they were my inspirational moodboard and somehow shaped my decór style. I've always paid attention to details, because I truly believe that a certain je ne sais quoi makes all the difference. There's really nothing more romantic, more clean, more stylish and absolutely girlish than a beautiful bouquet of flowers in a gorgeous vase and I mean to have them scattered all over my place. As you will be able to see from now on, I've found my own home decór style and it fully embodies my aesthetic - I'm a classic girl with a twist of modernity!

Rapariga Clássica com um Toque de Modernidade - Decoração de Interiores

Tal como alguns de vocês já sabem estou no processo de acabar a minha casa e de começar a decorá-la. Este tem sido o projeto de uma vida que finalmente veio a ser concretizado Nestes últimos onze anos vivi em duas casas diferentes e estou prestes a mudar-me pela terceira e espero última vez (pelo menos enquanto me lembrar das chatices que tive no processo de construção de uma casa)para a minha nova casa, uma casa a que eu posso finalmente chamar de minha e que realmente sinto como um lar, dentro de poucos meses.O processo tem sido longo,difícil, esgotante, mas eu espero que todo o sofrimento tenha valido a pena uma vez tudo esteja pronto. Ao longo destes anos todos de espera tenho colecionado fotografias de decoração de casas que funcionaram como uma espécie de ponto de referência do que eu pretendo que a minha casa seja, elas foram o meu quadro de inspiração e, de alguma forma, moldaram o meu estilo de decoração de interiores. Sempre prestei atenção aos detalhes, porque acredito que um certo je ne sais quoi faz toda a diferença. Na verdade, não há nada mais romântico, mais clean, com mais estilo e absolutamente feminino do que um belo ramo de flores numa jarra gira e eu pretendo espalhá-los por toda a casa. Como poderão ver de hoje em diante, eu encontrei o meu próprio estilo de decoração de interiores e esse estilo personifica completamente a minha estética - sou uma rapariga clássica com um toque de modernidade!

Piece of Cake!

This past summer while watching a Master Chef's episode I became inspired to bake a pie [a slighly different one, because I had to manage with the fruit I had at hand then]. Since ever I've never been an excellent cook in general terms, let alone in what concerns pastry, mostly because I'm a bit clumsy and anxious about getting results fast in everything in life - the waiting kills me - and frankly because I prefer experimenting with other kinds of food other than sweets, mainly because I think that making them take the kind of effort and patience I'm never going to be able to have. Nevertheless I enjoy cooking for friends and family and if for years I couldn't have cared less about food, in the past few years I've developed a sudden and inexplicable devotion to eating to my misfortune -  you can´t imagine how many weight I gained in about 2 years - but with a lot of effort I managed to send those extra kilos back to hell without giving up on being a sweet tooth alright that just couldn´t let this one pass. So this was my first attempt and I must say it didn´t look as bad as I expected... and in fact, it tasted even better. Wanna grab a bite?

Ingredients for the pastry:
375 gr cake flour
50 gr refined sugar
200 gr butter
1 egg

Ingredients for the filling:
125 gr butter
125 gr icing sugar
3 eggs
125 gr almonds
25 ml dark rum ( I used Frangelico)
cinammon
homemade peach jam
yellow and red plums

Preparation:

For the pastry mix the ingredients until they look like breadcrumbs. Add an egg and mix again all the ingredients with a spatula. Using your own hands then (don't forget to have your hands squeeky clean!) you put the blended ingredients on a cutting board and crimp them. Mix just until all ingredients are combined. Wrap and allow dough to rest in the refrigerator for about 2 hs - or less, I was too eager to wait!

2. For the filling you cream the butter and sugar in an electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs an egg yolk, one at a time until incorporated in the mixture. Fold in the almond meal and dark rum.

3. Remove the tart tin from the fridge. Brush half of the peach jam over the bottom of the tart, then spread the cream for the filling on top. Scatter over the colourful, fresh plums cut in halves, pressing lightly into the mixture. Bake in the oven for 30-35 until golden and cooked through.

4. Remove from the oven and brush lightly with remaining peach jam and pour a bit of cinammon on top . Serve with Häagen Dazs ice creams (my favourite!!!) Macadamia Nut Brittle and Chocolate, Pralinès & Caramel.

Every single year, since I remember becoming an independent, emancipated, (hard)working, of-the-seven-crafts woman I've always worn some new items - clothes, acessories, make up, a jewel - on the first day of the year, both for luck and for the perspective/ excuse of being the first step into renovating my entire closet throughout the preceeding months. Unfortunately, 2012, came along with a terrible anathema of economical/ financial crisis, screaming out for containment of expenditures,bigger responsability, good sense and saving. But that's not all bad, I think. Maybe it's time for us to go dig into our closets more deeply, to get our imagination working at full gas, to be more creative and inspired in recreation and to make an effort to surpass our own's expectations!Wanna give it a try?

Todos os anos desde que me tornei uma mulher dos sete ofícios independente, emancipada, esforçada que sempre estreei qualquer coisita nova no primeiro dia do ano - roupas, acessórios, maquilhagem, uma jóia - quer para dar sorte, quer como perspetiva/ desculpa de dar o primeiro passo para a total renovação do meu closet ao longo dos meses que se sucediam. Infelizmente, 2012 trouxe consigo o anátema de uma terrível crise financeira/ económica, a exigir contenção de despesas, maior responsabilidade, bom senso e poupança. Mas talvez não seja mal de todo, digo eu com os nervos! Talvez esteja na altura de procurarmos melhor no fundo dos nossos armários, de pôr a nossa imaginação a trabalhar a todo o gás,de sermos mais criativos e de nos inspirarmos mais na recriação e de fazermos um esforço para superarmos as nossas próprias espetativas! Welcome home!

I think it happens to us all, more or less like this. After the thrill and excitment of waiting for the twelve strokes of the bell, after hugging, kissing, laughing and crying at the same time, one comes to terms with a minute of being alone, feeling something inexplicably deep, a mix of nostalgia, regret, introspection, a moment in which we evaluate the year gone by, feeling impotent towards what was left behind, what was left undone, what got lost in time. Then, all of a sudden, the turn of a New Year, brings along the strongest will to take a hold of our own life again, we feel hope, revigorated, bold and unstoppable, full of courage and, mostly, of promises, that throughout the year, end up remaining in the bottom of a drawer, once gain. This year, 2012, more than making promises and wishes I decided to take action. There is an enormity of plans and projects that I've been proscratinating and that urge to be fulfilled, there's a new path for my life to walk on, a new track to lead my way, new goals to be achieved and decisive and definitive changes to be made. It's like I've been lost for a couple of years and finally found myself again. I invite you to come along with your own hopes and dreams and I dare you to make them come true. I'm for certain going to make an effort to carry through mines. I feel like after a long tortuous walk of lots of ups and downs, I lastly found home.
Thus, my motto for 2012 is :
